UCLA Extension

Past Ceremonies

Past graduation ceremonies have featured keynote addresses by notable alumni and industry leaders.

Peggie Fariss, 50-year veteran of Walt Disney Imagineering, Keynote Speech at UCLAxGraduation

Peggie Fariss, a 50-year veteran of creative development at Walt Disney Imagineering, traced her career from Anaheim to Disneyland, Paris. “My sincerest hope is that in hearing my story, those we are honoring and celebrating at the Certificate Graduation will take a moment to think of the stories they are writing with their own lives, and let their courage and curiosity take them where they will.”

2015 Keynote Speaker Jorge Ramos

Jorge Ramos, one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, spoke about second chances in life. Ramos, who in the 1980s successfully completed Extension courses that included investigative journalism and TV news writing and production, told attendees that his studies at UCLA Extension helped him land his first broadcasting job at KMEX, paving the way to becoming one of the country’s most influential news anchors.
